HypeX is HypeHype's platfrom currency introduced in March 2024.
It can be used in-game to purchase items such as skins, abilities, currency, ammo, potions, or boosts that creators can add to their game.
It can also be used by creators to Promote their Games.
To add HypeX to your account balance, you can access the shop by tapping on the HypeX icon in the top right corner of the HypeHype homescreen. Here you can also see your current balance.
You will then be taken to the shop where the purchase options are available.
Please note: For illustration purchases only. HypeX Currency Packs are subject to change.
The games that you create on HypeHype will earn Engagement Points (EP) when players play them. The more EP your game earns, the higher its Engagement Level (the number inside the flame icon) becomes.
Engagement Levels 1-10 will earn you platform currency HypeX that you can use on the platform to buy, for example, in-game-purchases, promoting your game or in other ways, but cannot cashout as money.
Once your game reaches Engagement Level 10, it will start earning reward currency HypeCash, which can be redeemed as money.
You can also convert some of the HypeCash reward currency into platform currency HypeX if you like, and use it with in-game and in-app purchases.
Your Creator Digest and your profile will show your total HypeX and HypeCash currencies, and once you have earned over $200 USD worth of HypeCash (from one game or combined from several games), you will be able to request a payment from your HypeHype account.
HypeCash is a reward currency. It can be obtained after your game reaches Engagement level 10 or more, and can be either converted to HypeX and spent on the platform, or cashed out once you have earned over $200 USD worth of it.
Yes! Once you have earned $200 USD worth of HypeCash from all your published HypeHype games combined, including both engagement payouts and in-game purchases, you will be able to request a cash out from your HypeHype account.
You can also spend some of your earnings inside HypeHype.
We've have already shared over $96,000 USD in the first 4 months with the creators via the engagement-based payout program and over $100,000 USD via dozens of game jams!
You are allowed one completed cash out request per calendar month.

We're moving to a new system for engagement-based payouts that emphasizes return play sessions more. So far we have paid by playtime per game, but now we will add a play session multiplier for the playtime.
The payout will be based on both playtime and a session multiplier. The more sessions a player plays, the higher the payout multiplier. For example, a player’s 3rd play session pays creator 10x more per minute as their 1st session!
We're making these changes as they will benefit both the creators and HypeHype. We've calculated that TOP games can earn 30% more with the new engagement system.
We also believe these changes will drive bigger and better games, by incentivizing game features that bring players back on following days and regularly instead of single marathon sessions.
Here's a breakdown of the key payout details:
Base Playtime Rate: $0.12 USD per hour of play (per game)
Session Multiplier: The session number (e.g a 3rd session for this player) brings a multiplier for the base rate of the playtime:
Playtime x session multiplier earns for each game in the following way:
Play Session | Session Multiplier |
---|---|
1st session | x 0.10 multiplier to base playtime rate |
2nd session | x 0.5 |
3rd session | x 1.0 |
4th session | x 2.0 |
5th session | x 3.0 |
6th session | x 4.0 |
7th session | x 5.0 |
8th session | x 6.0 |
9th session | x 7.0 |
10th session | x 8.0 |
11th session | x 9.0 |
12th + session | x 10.0 |
*Time played is per player.
For example:
If a player plays 30 minutes in their 4th session of the game, that generates
30/60 * 2.0 x $0.12 USD = $0.12 USD of engagement-based income.
If the player plays 30 minutes on their 12th session, that session generates 30/60 * 10.0 x $0.12 USD = $0.60 USD of engagement-based income.

We’ve calculated that the Top 50 games can earn 30% more with this new engagement system (September, 2024).*
We announced some big improvements to how creators can earn from their games on HypeHype. These changes are designed to boost your earnings and incentivize players to return to your games over time. Here’s what’s new:
Engagement-Based Payout System Update
Starting Monday, October 7th, we’re moving to a new system that will reward creators based on both playtime and return play sessions. The more players come back to your game for additional sessions, the more you’ll earn.
Why this change?
This system encourages game mechanics that bring players back for more, like daily rewards and in-game events. It’s not just about one long session anymore—it’s about keeping players engaged for the long haul.
How does it work?
The payout will be based on playtime and a session multiplier. The more sessions a player plays, the higher the payout multiplier. For example, a player’s 3rd play session pays creator 10x more per minute as their 1st session!
We’ve calculated that the Top games can earn 30% more with this new engagement system and even more after implementing features that incentivise players to return more.*
We believe these changes will drive bigger and better games by incentivizing game features that keep players coming back regularly.
In-Game Purchase Update
Effective immediately, in-game purchases are now much more valuable for creators. From now on, all HypeX purchases made in your game will directly contribute to your real cash earnings.
We’ve calculated that creators could see a 500% increase in real cash earnings from in-game purchases!
How can I add in-game purchases to my game?
Once your game reaches Engagement Level 10, you unlock the ability to add in-game purchases. These can be anything—skins, abilities, currency, power-ups, boosts, or unlocks—you decide. You can implement them using a simple node, allowing players to use HypeX in your game, which boosts your earnings.
You can find more information and instructions here.
How much revenue can I earn from in-game purchases?
Creators will now receive 85% of the revenue from in-game purchases. That leaves 15% to cover HypeHype's ongoing services and operating costs, and future-looking investments in the platform.
These creator monetisation updates are designed to boost your earnings and make in-game purchases a more significant part of your monetization strategy.
Although, HypeHype is still in early access, we have shared more than $226,000 USD to game creators, for example through engagement-based payouts, in-game purchases and dozens of game jams.
During the current early access phase of HypeHype your games can already potentially exceed $10k USD per month in earnings.
Jumping in early means your games and you as a creator will get a headstart. Your games start making money today with less competition. Once HypeHype is globally available, your games will be ready for big audiences which also means much bigger payouts.
